Enabling Success and Unveiling Opportunities within the Industry

Informa Markets in the Philippines successfully staged the 7th edition of Livestock Philippines and simultaneously held with the 4th edition of Aquaculture Philippines last 22 – 24 May 2024 at the World Trade Center Metro Manila, participated by nearly 200 local and international exhibitors, attracting a total of 8,670 attendees.

These important industry events were graced by Honorable Senator Francis “Tol” Tolentino and Honorable Deogracias Victor Savellano, the Undersecretary for Livestock of the Department of Agriculture, together with Ms. Rungphech Chitanuwat, the Country General Manager of Informa Markets in the Philippines. This year, Livestock Philippines and Aquaculture Philippines received significant support from the Department of Agriculture and industry association partners, all of which contributed to the development of content-focused programs aimed at fostering knowledge within the livestock and aquaculture sectors. On the first day of the event, the Batangas Egg Producers Cooperative and U.S. Soybean Export Council orchestrated the nationwide launch of Bidang Egg Kids, a concerted initiative advocating for eggs as a sustainable protein source to combat protein malnutrition in children. This program is designed to enhance the dietary intake of eggs among Filipino citizens, emphasizing that incorporating eggs into family meals contributes to fostering a healthier Philippines. The event was attended by Undersecretary Deogracias Victor Savellano, Dr. Jonathan Sabiniano, the Director of the National Livestock Program at the Department of Agriculture, and various other egg industry stakeholders from across different regions and provinces.

The event showed industry – relevant topics, featuring presentations on Biosecurity and its diverse applications and best practices within the livestock and aquaculture sectors, and sessions were enriched by the insights of both local and international speakers. The aquaculture sector also made significant positioning and was aiming to enhance industry knowledge dissemination among predominantly provincial attendees, primarily our local fisherfolk. Livestock Philippines and Aquaculture Philippines fostered collaboration with Sustainability Partners such as Prestige Quality Paper Products and Central Luzon State University, to enrich the forum with valuable content.

The Livestock Philippines Recognition was also held to recognize industry associations, private companies, cooperatives, and groups that contribute to the growth of the livestock and aquaculture industries in the Philippines. Undersecretary Deogracias Victor Savellano also graced the program and presented the plaque of recognition to the recipients. The Department of Agriculture (DA) reiterated its commitment to supporting Informa Markets by hosting the events again this year. DA firmly believes that such trade shows play a pivotal role in empowering farmers and fisherfolk by offering valuable insights into the most recent technological advancements and market trends specific to their respective subsectors. Furthermore, Livestock Philippines hosted the distinguished presidents of livestock and poultry-related associations from Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines in a 2-day ASEAN Livestock Associations Roundtable. This gathering aimed to facilitate discussions on industry topics and the exchange of best practices among participants.

This year’s theme highlights the important role of innovation and technology in propelling the growth and progress of the agricultural sector. This principle was central to the exhibition, where both local and international exhibitors presented their innovative products, technologies, and solutions customized for the industry. Visitors had the opportunity to explore a wide range of exhibitors specializing in aquaculture, animal health, biosecurity, farm equipment, feed additives, feed machinery, meat processing, and various other related fields.

Livestock Philippines and Aquaculture Philippines are set to return on 25 – 27 June 2024 at the World Trade Center Metro Manila, Pasay City.
